Desperate Hobbies is a bi-weekly radio show hosted by artists, performers and friends Angelica Falkeling and Lili Huston-Herterich, who use their one-hour broadcast to share vocal techniques and emotional support.
Together, we pay each other with attention, encouragement, and response. Our process begins with an existing work. In Season 1, we worked with the musical footnotes in Alexis Pauline Gumb's book M Archive). In Season 2, we start to refine our image, find our name, jingle, and begin to understand our style. As Season 3 progresses, we start writing songs. Throughout all seasons, we experiment in voice and instruments: a keyboard, melodica, clarinet, vocoders, looping pedals, and more. We share knowledge in technical equipment and vocal training, learning from each other through improvisation and play. All live on air!
